inasmuch as both

in the defence

of the gospel,

partakers

grace.

may abound

περισσεύω

knowledge

ἐπίγνωσις

and

καί

in all

πᾶς

judgment;

αἴσθησις

may approve

δοκιμάζω

things that are excellent;

διαφέρω

ye may be

sincere

εἰλικρινής

without offence

of Christ;

Being filled

with the fruits

of righteousness,

δικαιοσύνη

which

Jesus

the glory

of God.

the furtherance

προκοπή

of the gospel;

waxing confident

to speak

without fear.

strife;

sincerely,

affliction

knowing

I am set

the defence

of the gospel.

notwithstanding,

way,

τρόπος

whether

εἴτε

in pretence,

πρόφασις

or

εἴτε

in truth,

ἀλήθεια

is preached;

καταγγέλλω

χαίρω

therein

ἐν

τούτῳ

do rejoice,

χαίρω

yea,

ἀλλά

will rejoice.

salvation

σωτηρία

prayer,

of the Spirit

πνεῦμα

of Jesus

earnest expectation

ἀποκαραδοκία

and

my hope,

ἐλπίς

that

ἐν

nothing

I shall be ashamed,

αἰσχύνομαι

but

ἀλλά

that with

ἐν

all

πᾶς

boldness,

παρρησία

as

ὡς

always,

πάντοτε

so now

νῦν

also

Christ

shall be magnified

μεγαλύνω

in

ἐν

my

μοῦ

body,

σῶμα

whether

εἴτε

it be by

life,

ζωή

or

εἴτε

by

διά

death.

is gain.

is the fruit

of my labour:

I shall choose

I am in a strait

betwixt

two,

ἔχω

a desire

ἐπιθυμία

to

depart,

ἀναλύω

to be

εἶναι

with

Christ;

which is far

πολύς

μᾶλλον

better:

κρείσσων

Nevertheless

δέ

to abide

ἐπιμένω

in

ἐν

the flesh

σάρξ

is more needful

ἀναγκαῖος

for

διά

you.

ὑμᾶς

And

having this

τοῦτο

confidence,

πείθω

I know

οἶδα

that

ὅτι

I shall abide

μένω

and

καί

continue

συμπαραμένω

with you

ὑμῖν

all

πᾶς

for

εἰς

your

ὑμῶν

furtherance

προκοπή

and

καί

joy

χαρά

of faith;

πίστις

rejoicing

καύχημα

may be more abundant

περισσεύω

again.

Worthy of the Gospel

let your conversation be

πολιτεύομαι

as it becometh

ἀξίως

the gospel

εὐαγγέλιον

of Christ:

εἴτε

I come

ἔρχομαι

see

you,

ὑμᾶς

or

εἴτε

else be absent,

ἄπειμι

I may hear

ἀκούω

of your

ὑμῶν

affairs,

περί

that

ὅτι

ye stand fast

στήκω

in

ἐν

one

εἷς

spirit,

πνεῦμα

with one

μία

mind

ψυχή

striving together

συναθλέω

for the faith

πίστις

of the gospel;

nothing

μηδείς

μή

terrified

πτύρω

by

ὑπό

your adversaries:

ἀντίκειμαι

which

ὅστις

is

ἐστί

to them

αὐτός

an evident token

ἔνδειξις

of perdition,

ἀπώλεια

but

δέ

to you

ὑμῖν

of salvation,

σωτηρία

and

καί

that

τοῦτο

of

ἀπό

God.

unto you

it is given

χαρίζομαι

in the behalf

ὑπέρ

of Christ,

not

οὐ

only

μόνον

to believe

πιστεύω

on

εἰς

him,

but

ἀλλά

also

καί

to suffer

πάσχω

for

ὑπέρ

his sake;

αὐτός

ὑπέρ

Having

the same

αὐτός

conflict

ἀγών

which

οἵος

ye saw

οἶδα

in

ἐν

me,

ἐμοί

and

καί

now

νῦν

hear

ἀκούω

to be in

ἐν

me.
