The elder

unto the elect

ἐκλεκτός

lady

κυρία

children,

τέκνον

whom

I

ἐγώ

love

ἀγαπάω

in

ἐν

the truth;

ἀλήθεια

and

καί

not

οὐ

I

ἐγώ

only,

μόνος

but

ἀλλά

also

καί

all

πᾶς

they that have known

γινώσκω

the truth;

ἀλήθεια

For

διά

the truth's sake,

ἀλήθεια

which

ὁ

dwelleth

μένω

in

ἐν

us,

ἡμῖν

and

καί

shall be

ἔσομαι

with

μετά

us

ἡμῶν

for

εἰς

ever.

Grace

χάρις

be

ἔσομαι

with

μετά

you,

ὑμῶν

mercy,

ἔλεος

and peace,

εἰρήνη

from

παρά

God

θεός

the Father,

πατήρ

and

καί

from

παρά

the Lord

κύριος

Jesus

Ἰησοῦς

Christ,

Χριστός

the Son

υἱός

of the Father,

πατήρ

in

ἐν

truth

ἀλήθεια

and

καί

love.

ἀγάπη

Walking in the Truth

I rejoiced

χαίρω

greatly

λίαν

that

ὅτι

I found

εὑρίσκω

of

ἐκ

thy

σοῦ

children

τέκνον

walking

περιπατέω

in

ἐν

truth,

ἀλήθεια

as

καθώς

we have received

λαμβάνω

a commandment

ἐντολή

from

παρά

the Father.

νῦν

I beseech

ἐρωτάω

thee,

σέ

lady,

κυρία

not

οὐ

as though

ὡς

I wrote

γράφω

a new

καινός

commandment

ἐντολή

unto thee,

σοί

but

ἀλλά

that which

ὅς

we had

ἔχω

from

ἀπό

the beginning,

ἀρχή

that

ἵνα

we love

ἀγαπάω

one another.

ἀλλήλων

this

οὗτος

is

ἐστί

love,

ἀγάπη

that

ἵνα

we walk

περιπατέω

after

κατά

his

αὐτός

commandments.

ἐντολή

This

οὗτος

is

ἐστί

the commandment,

ἐντολή

That,

ἵνα

as

καθώς

ye have heard

ἀκούω

from

ἀπό

the beginning,

ἀρχή

ye should walk

περιπατέω

in

ἐν

it.

αὐτός

Beware of Antichrist Deceivers

many

πολύς

deceivers

πλάνος

are entered

εἰσέρχομαι

into

εἰς

the world,

κόσμος

who

ὁ

confess

ὁμολογέω

not

μή

that Jesus

Ἰησοῦς

Christ

Χριστός

is come

ἔρχομαι

in

ἐν

the flesh.

σάρξ

This

οὗτος

is

ἐστί

a deceiver

πλάνος

and

καί

an antichrist.

ἀντίχριστος

Look

βλέπω

to yourselves,

ἑαυτοῦ

that

ἵνα

we lose

ἀπόλλυμι

not

ἵνα

those things which

ὅς

we have wrought,

ἐργάζομαι

but

ἀλλά

that we receive

ἀπολαμβάνω

a full

πλήρης

reward.

μισθός

Whosoever

πᾶς

transgresseth,

παραβαίνω

and

καί

abideth

μένω

not

μή

in

ἐν

the doctrine

διδαχή

of Christ,

Χριστός

hath

ἔχω

not

οὐ

God.

θεός

He that abideth

μένω

in

ἐν

the doctrine

διδαχή

of Christ,

Χριστός

he

οὗτος

hath

ἔχω

both

καί

the Father

πατήρ

and

καί

the Son.

υἱός

there come

ἔρχομαι

any

εἴ

τις

unto

πρός

you,

ὑμᾶς

and

καί

bring

φέρω

not

οὐ

this

ταύτῃ

doctrine,

διδαχή

receive

λαμβάνω

him

αὐτός

not

μή

into

εἰς

your house,

οἰκία

neither

καί

μή

bid

λέγω

him

αὐτός

God speed:

χαίρω

he that biddeth

is partaker

κοινωνέω

of his

αὐτός

evil

πονηρός

deeds.

unto you,

ὑμῖν

I would

βούλομαι

not

οὐ

write with

διά

paper

χάρτης

and

καί

ink:

μέλαν

but

ἀλλά

I trust

ἐλπίζω

to come

ἔρχομαι

unto

πρός

you,

ὑμᾶς

and

καί

speak

λαλέω

face

στόμα

to

πρός

face,

στόμα

that

ἵνα

our

ἡμῶν

joy

χαρά

may be

ὦ

full.

The children

τέκνον

of thy

σοῦ

elect

ἐκλεκτός

sister

ἀδελφή

greet

ἀσπάζομαι

thee.
