A Call to Prayer

I exhort

παρακαλέω

therefore,

that, first

πρῶτον

of all,

πᾶς

supplications,

δέησις

prayers,

προσευχή

intercessions,

ἔντευξις

and giving of thanks,

εὐχαριστία

be made

ποιέω

for

ὑπέρ

all

πᾶς

men;

ἄνθρωπος

kings,

βασιλεύς

and

καί

for all

πᾶς

that are

ὤν

in

ἐν

authority;

ὑπεροχή

that

ἵνα

we may lead

διάγω

a quiet

ἤρεμος

and

καί

peaceable

ἡσύχιος

life

βίος

in

ἐν

all

πᾶς

godliness

εὐσέβεια

and

καί

honesty.

σεμνότης

For

γάρ

this

τοῦτο

is good

καλός

and

καί

acceptable

ἀπόδεκτος

in the sight

ἐνώπιον

of God

θεός

our

ἡμῶν

Saviour;

σωτήρ

will have

θέλω

all

πᾶς

men

ἄνθρωπος

to be saved,

σῴζω

and

καί

to come

ἔρχομαι

unto

εἰς

the knowledge

ἐπίγνωσις

of the truth.

there is one

God,

εἷς

mediator

μεσίτης

between God

men,

ἄνθρωπος

the man

ἄνθρωπος

a ransom

to be testified

a preacher,

doubting.

Instructions to Women

modest

κόσμιος

apparel,

καταστολή

shamefacedness

αἰδώς

sobriety;

σωφροσύνη

broided hair,

πλέγμα

or

ἤ

gold,

χρυσός

or

ἤ

pearls,

μαργαρίτης

or

ἤ

costly

πολυτελής

array;

ἱματισμός

women

professing

ἐπαγγέλλομαι

godliness)

θεοσέβεια

works.

μανθάνω

the woman

learn

μανθάνω

in

ἐν

silence

ἡσυχία

with

ἐν

all

πᾶς

subjection.

ὑποταγή

I suffer

ἐπιτρέπω

not

οὐ

a woman

γυνή

to teach,

διδάσκω

nor

οὐδέ

to usurp authority

αὐθεντέω

over the man,

ἀνήρ

but

ἀλλά

to be

εἶναι

in

ἐν

silence.

ἡσυχία

Adam

πλάσσω

first

πρῶτος

formed,

πλάσσω

then

εἶτα

Eve.

Εὔα

Adam

Ἀδάμ

ἀπατάω

not

οὐ

deceived,

ἀπατάω

but

δέ

the woman

γυνή

being deceived

ἀπατάω

was

γίνομαι

in

ἐν

the transgression.

παράβασις

Notwithstanding

δέ

she shall be saved

σῴζω

in

διά

childbearing,

τεκνογονία

if

ἐάν

they continue

μένω

in

ἐν

faith

πίστις

and

καί

charity

ἀγάπη

and

καί

holiness

ἁγιασμός

with

μετά

sobriety.

σωφροσύνη
